Professional Development Credits
Persons holding certification as a Ground Water Professional will be required to obtain professional development credits in order to maintain active status. Thirty six credits will be required over every three-year anniversary period. Credits are given for:
- Attendance at local, regional, national, and international technical meetings (GSA, AGU, NGWA. etc.) (3 credits per day attended, or appropriate fraction thereof). Documentation of meeting must be supplied for approval.
- Participation in or teaching of short courses and workshops (NGWA, GSA, universities, government training, etc.) (4 credits per day of participation or appropriate fraction thereof).
- Publication in refereed journals (Ground Water, GSA Bulletin, Water Resources Research, etc.) (8 credits per published article).
- Teaching at universities, colleges, junior colleges, where not normally employed (2 credits per one semester or quarter hour).
- Oral presentation of papers at technical society meetings (4 credits per paper presented)
- Enrollment and attendance at university or college courses in relevant subjects (7 credits per semester credit unit eamed/5 credits per quarter credit unit earned).
- If you participate in an activity that you feel is equivalent to one of the requirements, please let us know and we will evaluate it for credit.
