Certification Procedures
The AGWSE Board has established two (2) three-person certification review committees to decide for and against applicants for certification. The committees will meet tow times each year to review completed applications assembled and prescreened for completeness only by NGWA staff personnel. A unanimous decision will be required to certify or not certify an individual by the three-member committee. Dossiers of applicants receiving a split decision will automatically be forwarded with no recommendation to a second three-member committee for their review. In this case, a two-thirds majority or four of the six possible votes of the tow combined review committees will be required to obtain certification.Each three-person review committee will consist of one AGWSE director and two individuals selected by the board who qualifications as outstanding professionals are recognized throughout our scientific community.
No individual will be certified without submitting to the full application and review procedure. Individuals denied certification may petition for a personal hearing before a review committee that denied his or her original application.
The application fee is $150. Three-year renewal fee of $85 will be charged at the time of approval of the professional development credits. Canons of Professional Practice for the Ground Water Profession Persons who hold certification as Ground Water Professionals under the Association of Ground Water Scientists and Engineers, a division of the National Ground Water Association, shall: I .Perform services only in the areas of their competence 2. Use their knowledge and skill for the enhancement of human welfare 3. Serve the public, their employers, and their clients honestly, objectively, and impartially 4. Avoid conflict of interest 5. Act as faithful agents or trustees in professional matters for each employer or client 6. Strive to uphold and enhance the honor, integrity, dignity, competence, and prestige of the ground water profession 7, Maintain their competence current through continuing professional development.
